If you're like us, you know that good policy is really not all that complicated.  Experience and common sense teaches us, for example, that:

1. Spending money you don't have and have no hope of getting is a recipe for disaster.

2. More government is rarely the solution to a problem.

3. Each individual must take primary responsibility for his own well-being and that of his family.

4. Every judge and prosecutor has a duty to apply the law as it is written, and not as he or she wishes it could be.

5. The people of a nation should determine for themselves the laws which will govern their lives.

Although the above ideas are common sense to us, we have learned that they are not common sense to everyone.  Bigger government, larger debts, irresponsibility, emotional decisionmaking and internationalism seem to be the order of the day.

If you believe, as we do, in limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, the rule of law and national sovereignty are encouraged to SIGN UP so that we can help you find like-minded citizens in your same area.

The Common Sense Citizens Network is not a GROUP so much as it is a CONDUIT to connect each common sense citizen to other common sense citizens.in their area.

by Gail Spurlock  2009-07-22 22:40:13
Here here...I still want the Stimulus, Omnibus and Budget repealed. These three pieces of legislation keep the threat of socialism poised like a guillotine blade over the jugular vein of our nation. Until the threat of socialism is removed, our economy will not recover.

Best regards,
Gail

Sense most elected GOP congressmen don't seem to really embrace these so-called 'common sense' principles, I am joining the group in hopes that grass root activism will bring some fresh faces into the game...plus I want to see a more forward-looking leadership for the GOP, not the same old crap (and crappers)who lost the party's position for us in both the White House and Congress!!
by Bill Eastland  2009-07-26 12:31:24
Thank you, Ken, for getting the word out. I see a lot of familiar names here. This is an excellent tool. I think the priorities now are candidate recruitment, activist education and precinct orgaization.
by Robert K Stannard Sr  2009-07-26 12:35:03
I would find it interesting and helpful if someone, somewhere could list all of the teaparty, 9-12, and similar groups and websites. Once that's done, maybe we could connect them and organize into a really potent political force which both major parties would respect and listen to. Does this sound like a Conservative Party? So be it!
by  NativeConservative (OH)  2009-07-26 12:38:50
Ready to roll. Hope to meet some of you at the DC march on 9/12 and the T-Party at the Statehouse in Columbus Ohio next Saturday at 2 p.m. Judge Napolitano will speak.

Agree with all of the above. I would add that we do not have time to waste, the democrats know that and that is why the rush to get this bill passed before people realize what has been done to them. I am very leary when I here that it isn't republicans holding the health care bill up it's "blue dog democrats"...excuse me but republicans should be screaming at the top of their lungs the ramifications of this legislation...ALL OF THEM, that goes for you too Senators Graham, Kyle, Snowe, Collins, Lugar etc. If the media won't give the air time find another way.. I don't care if you haveto fly hot air balloons with the message behind it, JUST DO SOMETHING!!!
If this bill gets passed in any form, you can expect trouble. The American people are not going to go quietly into that goodnight, we will not board the cattle car or take the blue pill. We will fight this, we will be civily disobediant or not so civily, whatever it takes, nobody is going to tell me to go home and die and the idea t
by Rick Morin  2009-09-24 09:11:21
You start of mentioning the Democrats and I feel the same with the Replublicans. Our fight is to restore our government back to it constitutional design and neither party is participating. Health care should not be even disscused on the federal level. Health care is not a right. It is something you should strive to provide for yourself if you feel it is important enough. TORT reform is already being handeled in a few states where they felt it needed. Both parties are building power bases that don't belong in our government.

Good initiative. Also, a must read for all Common Sense Citizens is "Liberty and Tyranny," by Mark R. Levin. Levin points out in a clear, well-documented manner how the liberal statists have erroded our freedoms and threaten our very existance as a free people.

A great idea! Yeay for Common Sense!
by Dave Dunlap  2009-07-26 13:28:48
Common sense is what this country has been lacking the past few years, the vote shows that...but more importantly, we as a country need to turn back to God...we have been killing his babies and demand he not be in govt or school etc etc and he has said "as you wish", turn back to Jesus, ask him to restore America! "If my people that are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face, I will hear and heal their land"! what else do we need?
by  wewig.wig  2009-07-26 13:37:42
Hi All What groups joined together to form the coalition, if I may ask. This is what all groups around the country need to do. Individually they may have some small impact, but we need to put egos aside and do what is best for the country and have all small govt. etc groups coordinate into a citizens army to educate or kick ass on the Totalists in this country! Slavery is not an option here in the US.

I would also like to see term limits set for all goverment Office's only two years in and that's all. I feel it we do have limits they may think of there selves as Americans and not think of the money they make. Also how can they make us have different insurance then they do?

On behalf of Grassroots Citizens of Dallas County, we are ready to lock arms with like-minded citizens in Dallas, in Texas, and throughout the United States and ignite the revival that will return our government and those who represent us to the common-sense principles of our Constitution that have brought us success for over 200 years. It was bound to happen eventually, but our government has finally concluded that we don't care or don't know any better and that they can act at will. Well, let's show them that they "can't"; and we "will".

Need to 'group up' the groups as several have suggested for impact. Interesting that few have commented on elected Republicans...I would suggest if we are going to 'take back our country' from the liberals, the media, the Dems and various and assorted other factions deemed a threat to the so-called 'American way of life', we are gong to have to hold our elected GOP officials to much higher standards of both professional and personal conduct and commitment...does anyone really believe that we can effect changes with the likes of Sarah P, Gov Sanford, the Utah guy and the legions of others who get to Washington and lose contact with why they were elected as Republican? Get real people...we have a mess in our own house to clean up!!
by Rick Morin  2009-09-24 08:43:55
It wouldn't have been any better under John McCain. It was amasing how he was the alternative. We need representatives focused on returning the structure and powers of our government to is constitutional design.

I'm an Independent, can't stand either party at this time due to their total disregard for what American citizens want and lack of common sense. The ideas expressed in this group's "platform" resonate with all true Americans.

There are Common Sense Solutions for every problem, situation, and circumstance. Ask any Soldier or General - Common Sense wins Wars. We are in a Political War and in the end Common Sense will rule the day. However, it will take constant and perpetual diligence on our part to achieve and maintain a Common Sense %u201CVictory%u201D. President Regan said, %u201CFreedom is never more than one generation away from extinction%u201D we need to get Conservatism back in our very Liberal schools and colleges.

If you overlook the Federal Reserve System we will never get our government's spending under control. It is the very institution by which our government creates all the money they want to spend on whatever they want. Out of thin air the Fed creates the money to purchase the Treasury Bonds that we get to pay back with interest. It is time for us to decapitate the creature from Jekyll Island. You can begin your education on it for free at this link: http://www.mises.org/story/3480
The Creature from Jekyll Island is the best book I've read on it, but it is not free.
by Nathan Davison  2009-07-30 12:15:51
Saying it's common sense is good for us b/c it's what we already know, but if we are to convince people to share our point of view, we have to offer a rational argument that will make uncommon sense to them. For example:

1. The government exists to protect us from bad corporations.

2. The government will not protect us from government.

3. Therefore if the government takes of the role of a corporation it will no longer protect us from them.

4. Therefore we should have a separation of economics and state, just like we have separation of church and state.

Things like that :)
by  Alex (TX)  2009-07-30 12:22:37

Good health is the greatest wealth we can have, and the Government wants to take that away!

I'm IN and ready to do what it takes to take back control of OUR country from the socialist "plan".

The federal government's primary goal is to insure our freedom...including freedom from the federal government's propensity to grow! For decades the federal government has been trampling all over the guarantee of the 10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." The States and the people need to take back their Constitutionally-guaranteed rights! We need a Million Person March on Washington on Sat., 9/12. Let the politicians see that we are not "astro turf" or "Nazis" or "kooks". Let the "ground swell" begin!

Although I cannot always attend your meetings and protests because of my work schedule, I do like being made aware. Thank you.

We had a small group that went to Kenny Marchants office today at noon. We started with 7 and ended up with about 15 or so. A nice policeman stopped by and just wanted to make sure Mr. Marchant was OK with us being there, and when I suggested he stick around and hold up one of our signs, he whispered that he would if he wasn't in uniform. I have his email address and he is going to join us on future rally's when he's off duty. One "hired gun" showed up. A French lady who said she opposed us and wanted the healthcare bill passed. When Jason, from Mr. Marchants office came out he said she tried to get into the office and he locked the door to keep her out. She had a piece of paper in her hand that had all of her "Talking Points" to cover. She finally gave up and left. We all decided to go in front of the office of Eddie Bernice Johnson's next week one day. Any day is fine with me! Ken, if there is a rally that you know of, let us know and we'll get some folks there!

Don't want my grandchildren to think socialism is normal. I read the Declaration of Independence to them on the 4th..and then cried.

More than anything else about health care is that it is not even the responsibility of government to provide it. The federal government has way over stepped its bounds in so many areas. They should not even be discussing this.

Money was taken from citizen's for Social Security and other programs, but as with ANY Government program, funds are withdrawn for other uses. Is there ANY reason to trust that this Government Leadership won't do the same thing?

Dear Patriots,

Now it is making sense to me. There is a logic to all the ill-logic going on with Democrats regarding health care, global warming, etc. Until I saw this You Tube, I just kept getting crazy mad about all the irrational proposals the Democrats have been offering. This You Tube video helps me understand how Obama thinks. To me, it is chilling, and spurs me to fight even harder to protect liberty. The video is 46 minutes long, but the first 10 minutes will give you the understanding of how liberals think. I hope in all of your priorities you will take 10 minutes to view the first part of this video. It is a talk at the Heritage Foundation in March of 2007. If the address below does not work, Google "Heritage Foundation You Tube March 2007".

Everybody is focusing on the politicians when it is the bureaucrats that are writing these bills. The people who hold their job no matter who is in office. They are not elected and are not held accountable by anybody. In there is where our freedom is going to be lost. and saying that we need to focus the real threat to us all.

Why would I ask these questions? This is why:

Part 1 - Obama's Ties to Socialism, Marxism, and Communism

1. Obama's Father Wrote About Socialism - His father wrote a paper called "Problems With Our Socialism" that advocates 100% taxation of the rich, communal ownership of land and the forced confiscation of privately controlled land. Source: Greg Ransom, PrestoPundit

2. Obama's Mother Was a "Communist Sympathizer" - " Friends describe her as a "fellow traveler", that is, a communist sympathizer, from her youth, according to a March 27, 2007, Chicago Tribune report" Source: Spengler, Asia Times "The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics - Barack Obama" Source: Tim Jones, Chicago Tribune

3. Obama's Parents Met in a Russian Class (Back then it was the Communist USSR) - "His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham (her father always wanted a son), was white and just 18 when they met in a Russian class" Sou

Liberals self-righteously wrap themselves in the mantle of public spirit. They ardently promote policies promising to deliver the poor and oppressed from their latest misery %u2014 policies which can only find solution in the halls of government. But no matter what issue one examines, over the last fifty plus years, the liberal prescription has almost always been a failure.
by Freedom Fighter  2009-11-25 16:30:26
When things go bad all the time, despite the best efforts of all involved, I suggest to you something else is at work %u2014 something deeper, more malevolent.

I submit to you that it is not a mistake, the failure is deliberate!

There is a method to the madness, and the method even has a name: the Cloward-Piven Strategy. It was first elucidated in the 1960s by a pair of radical leftist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven:

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis%u2026. %u2026the %u201CCloward-Piven Strategy%u201D seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Along with so many things to be thankful for, I'm thankful that we have a way now to unite. We don't personally know everyone who's joined the tea parties but we're united for common beliefs and that's a good thing. We must ALL stand together and get rid of the Washington we have now. It's so important for us to become one huge voting block. Even contacting other states tea parties (like Nevada for instance--got to rid Washington of Harry Reid!) I believe if we could file on him for incompetence because he is, and for theft because he is a thief, taking our money and giving it to La.--did he make that decision on his on? He thinks he's King Harry! It's time, It's time. We must band together to rid our America of these bloodsuckers. Thanks for all of you and let's take our country back.
by Freedom Fighter  2009-12-01 14:19:56
I am right there with you Linda like so many of us trying to escape this tyranny.

Sharon Russell is a candidate for Texas State Senate. Mrs. Russell is challenging a longtime incumbent, Texas Senator Bob Deuell. Sharon is a commonsense conservative, a mother and a grandmother, who decided enough was enough.
Like many ordinary citizens who are tired of the same old politics, politicians, and entrenched interests, Sharon Russell has chosen to take a path to give power to the voice of the people and restore the fundamental beliefs, of We The People, back to our local district

The wisdom and common sense of older Americans can never be marginalized. Every once in a while, with this youth oriented society, we need to listen to those who have occupied space on this earth a lot longer than most of us.

This 82-year old American woman has a unique way of looking at Barack Obama%u2019s tenure in the White House. Her slant is amusing if not frighteningly true in her observations.

She begins her letter with the words, %u201CThank God for the President.%u201D

1. He destroyed the Clinton political machine by driving a stake through the heart of Hillary%u2019s presidential aspirations. That was something no Republican was ever able to do. Remember when Hillary scared the daylights out of you?

2. He ended the %u2018Ted Kennedy dynasty%u2019 single-handedly.

3. He is destroying the Democratic Party before our very eyes. So far, only a handful of Democrats and their careers have been destroyed. By the early part of November

Common sense success is dependent upon moral majority! Ex: If people of a nation are moral then moral law will result. The opposite is also also true. Our government and constitution work best for everyone when the MORAL MAJORITY rules.
